Barry Bonds hit his 756th home run last night passing Hank Aaron's record. In terms of records in baseball, this is probably the single most important one, earning anyone that holds it the arguable distinction of being the
greatest player of all time. As a San Francisco Giants fan with little to boast about thus far, I am going to savor this moment for a long time.

I find it so hard to believe that Giants' fan can be so myopic as to not see the big head that is right in front of their faces. He took steroids. He cheated. The record means very little in light of that. I don't need proof to tell me what is obvious with my own eyes. Sorry to rain on your parade, but even though Bonds is one of the best ever, he has tainted his legacy forever.

Give Barry a break! It can't be easy to distinguish oneself in a sport like baseball for 21 years like Barry has done without a little help. The only real issue is the fact that steroids are illegal to take.

Surpassing the most homers record is a very big achievement. If it didn't require true greatness and years of impeccable hand-eye co-ordination, the record wouldn't hold for 33 years, as Aaron's did. The taint from the steriods scandal is obvious but last I checked, in this country, a man's presumed innocent until proven otherwise. My personal opinion on Bonds and that large noggin of his mean little. For however short an interval, he "owns" the record. And the Giants' fans get to cheer.
