Outlook 2007 look and feel with WPF
Ronnie Saurenmann, one of our architect evangelists in Switzerland, sent a link (via email) to a Hands-on Lab (HOL) on how to build an Outlook 2007 UI look and feel using Windows Presentation Foundation. He says this was done "90% in Blend and 10% manual XAML" tweaking. There's an XBAP demo of the app in case you want to see the results, along with a lab manual with step-by-step details and sample source code.

It looks like the source code points to the PDF. I would love to get my hands on this.

It looks like the buttons for the other items (calendar, etc.) on the left pane don't have any content, or at least don't seem to do anything. Are they implemented? I'm looking to build something like the outlook bar for my application, but I haven't figured out the best way to do it yet. It looks like this sample will help me a lot once I get through it.

My blog at http://blogs.catalystss.com/blogs/richard_gavel/default.aspx includes a series I've been doing on creating the Outlook UI with WPF tied into the Outlook COM objects. Part 5 includes the start of an OutlookNavigator custom control. It works much like a tab conrol but it's not just a restyled tab control because of the eventual need for stuff like the overflow bar at the bottom.
