The name
We've been dropping little hints about the name for months now - the MIME type for the browser plug-in in the Feb CTP was application/ag-plugin and the script instantiation used a new agHost(...) call. Ag (short for Argentum) is the symbol for Silver in Mendeleev's Periodic Table of Chemical Elements.

One of the earliest codenames for .Net was Lightning. Coincidence? Or someone with a good grasp of history?

Visual basic had yet another codename "Thunder".

There's probably a relation between the codenames "Lightning" and "Thunder" but any relation to Silverlight is just coincidence. Need I say, the codenames are inventions of the curious developer brain. The product names almost always come from marketing.
